Where are the best sports shops?

Hi, I've recently arrived in HK and would love to take up tennis again. Anyone got any ideas which shops I can get decent tennis equipment from, that's well priced too? Defo need a racquet and balls for now...I hear Mongkok is the place?

Also, I used to be intermediate level but need to get back into the swing (excuse the pun at this hour!) so anyone looking for a tennis partner? Don't mind playing more advanced players as I want to bring my game back up...

I'm in Olympic and have access to courts. Best times for me are at weekends or evenings after work.

    Cheers.

Royal Sporting House is generally fine, there are lots of them around in most malls. Alternatively Sogo have a decent sports department.

There might be some other places in Mong Kok too though.

    Good advice

Thanks - useful info! There is a Royal shop where I live so I'll check them out.

I have heard the shops in Mongkok are better on price too. I think they provide all incl stringing service too which is a good bonus.

    Cheers,

Yes, there's a street of sports shops in Mongkok. Mongkok is generally one of the better places to shop in HK as there are many small specialist retailers with good service and knowledge rather than the bland malls, but I haven't used any of the sports shops there personally.

The other area for specialist racquet shops that have a good range and stringing service is Tin Hau and Causeway Bay/Wan Chai . The one I use is opposite Wan Chai Fire Station, next to the Canal Road Flyover on Hennessey Road (actually nearer to Causeway Bay than Wan Chai). There are also many specialist racquet shops in Tin Hau as it's near to Victoria Park tennis courts.

The ones in Mongkok are behind the electronics streets (so, next street over as you move away from the MTR station) and up the Argyle road end. (Sorry, I don't know any of the street names, I just have a pattern of shop types in my head!)

There is a very good tennis shop in Prince's Building if you are in Central.
