    Female running/jogging partner around Central

    Hi,

I'm interested in running around Hong Kong, specifically HK Island, but don't know many routes. I recently moved to HK and want to meet new people and explore the area.

If you are new to HK and want to explore the running routes or have been here a while and want to show a newbie round, please get in contact.

I'm 26, female, from the UK and live in central.

Hi, you could join meetup.com and then join the Hong Kong Hiking group and the HK Trail Runners group. Both organize regular hikes/runs around HK island and it's a great way to learn the routes and landscape. And the landscape is truly wonderful and well worth exploring - it's very accessible, too!
With the hiking meetup group, there are some fast, intense stair climbing "hikes" on HK Island about 3+ times a week. But do give a true outing somewhere in the New Territories or on Lantau a go, too, sometime!

This website http://hkwalkers.net/eng/index.htm has lots of different routes, most will be on trails though. The typical road running route on HK Island itself seems to be the Bowen Road out and back, never any shortage of people on that. I prefer trail running myself, the HK trail (which is on that website) is great if you prefer trails or want to see a bit more scenery and wildlife. I normally do at least part of that by myself on saturday mornings, good fun.

One thing to add to Seano76's post -- a lot of "trails" on HK island are concrete paths or concrete stairs (sadly!). Also, if you aren't interested in climbing up stairs then look for the catch-water paths that go around the side of the hills instead of up and over.
I second the HK trail option -- lots information out there for it and plenty of sign posts on the trail. It goes all the way across the island, starting from the Peak.
