Surfing Shelter Island Reef off Hong Kong

Has anyone been surfing the Shelter Island reef of late?

All online information is extremely old, but it is the right season for the reef. With the Hong Kong typhoon warning website timing shouldn't be too difficult to predict as it should be on just before and after a typhoon.

I'm very interested to hear if people have been making the journey - particularly those willing to make the paddle to the spot.

Hi there. Totally off topic from your post, BUT any suggestions for a new surfer? I have surfed in the past (I stink) and want to learn. Newish to Hong Kong by way of California and want to get in the water (been here for 1 year). Thanks!

Big wave bay next to shek o is probably your best bet to go and rent a board and play around
