Pure class as Rodriguez scores for Colombia at 28". With his back to the goal, he takes a feed just outside penalty box, chests it in the air, rotates and shoots in one balletic sequence. Beautiful.

Great chance for Uruguay at 38" but the Colombian keeper punches it out with both hands. Had Cavani gotten a head on the ball, we'd be knotted up.
Colombia swarm the goal at 48" and James Rodriguez nets his second. Colombia 2-0 Uruguay.
Uruguay fan's reaction to second goal.

Uruguay with some chances at 63" . . . . first sustained offensive pressure in a long time from the men in powder blue.
Much better form from Uruguay, but perhaps too little, late with <20 minutes remaining in regulation.
Several good chances by Uruguay but still no goal. James Rodriguez comes off for a sub to huge applause.
FT Colombia 2-0 Uruguay.
Thoughts.
Father time is ruthless. Diego Forlan was a force of nature in 2010. This year he was just another guy on the pitch.
Cavani has cheek bones that could cut marble.
Just as well Uruguay are out. Now the team, FA and citizens can devote their full energies in defending the honor of Luis Suarez.
Look out Brazil. If they don't play better Colombia will kick them out of their own party.
