Yes, when Federer goes against other opponents. But against Nadal, it doesn't look so good.

I watched the Federer match last night, just to make sure i didn't get much sleep. Federer's still as graceful as ever even if he lacks the edge he had a few years ago.

Yes, he did show flashes of his old self, and I think Fed deserve to win at least one or two more majors, he seems fit so far but I guess time and his ageing body might not be on his side. We'll see how much longer he will play.

Roger has 17 Grand Slams, more than any other. Until Rafa gets to, or passes 17 then Roger is still the greatest!

It's titles that count not head to head matches.

"King of Clay" Nadal has improved immensely on other surfaces, but it's still 9 out of his 14 Slams at the French.

You gotta go through the list WC. Head to head stats surely not in Federer's favour ( vs Nadal ) but at the end of the day that's not what really matters.

Well this notion of Federer as the "greatest" always have to be qualified or given apostrophes given his record against Nadal.

Sure, for all other considerations, Federer is no question the best. But then when you consider who is the "greatest", you have to talk about rivalry. Sampras, considered one of the greatest too, had a rivalry with Agassi and the stats aren't so one-sided as Federer vs Nadal.

So let me clarify, I'm not saying Nadal is the greatest but for Federer, there is always going to some question marks over whether he really is the absolute "greatest" given his record against Nadal.

What was Nadal's record against Federer before Nadal's 2008 triumph (outside of clay, seeing as clay court tennis isn't real tennis)?

Tell that to the French Open winners...

WC.. The head to head isn't a fair reflection since they've hardly ever met on grass, mainly because nadal usually loses in the earlier rounds on that surface.

Yes, Nadal is better than Federer on clay, no doubt, but the reason they met so often on that surface is due to Federer's competence against other clay courters.

On top of that, in recent years, being 5 years younger hasn't done nadal any harm .
