Hi all,
back in old europe I used to rent a laser boat for a leisure stroll on the lake. It was one of those very small boats that only accomodate one person with a small sail.
Is it possible to rent it here in HK ? Anyone in the know ?
Thanks

The LCSD has water sport centres that rent out boats, but I believe you need some local certification.

Yep you do need the certification. It takes 2 days and can be really hard to get onto a course because they only have a limited number in English. I believe that doing one of the canto courses (apparently many instructors do speak English really) or doing it mid-week is the way to go. My husband did this a while back...
The courses in question are very inexpensive and therefore high in demand. If you go in winter (cold weather and water), you'll get in very easily. Otherwise, you have to get your application in as soon as the gates open.
An alternative is to go with one of the yacht clubs around town. ABC, HebeHaven, RHKYC all offer similar courses (Level1 & Level2) at a much higher price but in a much nicer setting. Once you have the certs in hand, you can rent from various LCSD around town.
Thanks for your replies !!
