California Fitness does gym classes. These are great for people new to fitness because they 1) are scheduled, forcing you to get off your ass and turn up 2) are 45-50 mins long, so a sensible time and 3) show you what to do. Just find something you like - go along to a bunch of different things and see how you go.

Some are more focussed on cardio (like spinning and step classes and all the various dance classes); some more resistance (like pump) some more stretching and toning (like yoga, body balance).

No PT required. Just turn up and get on with it.

These guys are notorious for bad service, membership scams etc. The Pt's are really just glorified sales people in my opinion.

They both do the same classes (or at least, both do Les Mills classes as well as others - I only go to Les Mills so less knowledge on the others). A Les Mills instructor can work across a variety of gyms - but I don't know if they do here in HK. What I have noticed is that the classes on HK Island are much more in English while the classes in the NT have much more cantonese (Les Mills classes are "supposed" to be in English...it's a franchise...) but even the ones in Tuen Mun were perfectly doable for a gweilo.
