I am so shocked that this could happen to such a decent, honest and respectable company.

Shocking that the banks allowed one of the victims to go bankrupt.
One of the four victims was slapped with a HK$390,000 card bill that remained outstanding when she was declared bankrupt, the District Court heard.
California gym, the PT, and the banks are all criminals in this case. If this case actually happened in California, that gym and the PT would be sued into oblivion.
I am so glad I no longer give my business to commercial gyms in HK.
I know of a personal trainer who did something similar albeit on a smaller scale.
Clients who gave him cash for PT he pocketed all of it instead of giving a % to the gym so he could bail out his brother who owed money to the triads.
Gyms are awesome. They pressure you to sign up for years, then you go for like maybe 5 times and they keep signing up new people. I just use my gym downstairs (quite infrequently as well) and it's only 30 bucks a pop. It's very empty too LOL.
I was tricked into this in the states with California Fitness as well. It was only like 500 bucks for 4 years, so it was a good deal relatively. But at that time it felt like a lot. And they even offered 25 bucks a year afterwards. Knowing I never freaking go!
