Excellent chances for Sharks in the final two minutes but Blues keep them off the board. Both teams head into their locker rooms for the second intermission. Of note, St. Louis Captain David Backes didn't take a shift in the second period. Likely injured. That would be a big dark cloud in an otherwise blue sky game four.

Sharks put up a crooked number just a minute into the third period. Exactly what they needed. STL 4-1 SJ

Now Sharks on the PP. This game getting very interesting. Blues kill off penalty but Sharks are clearly charging hard. 10:30 remaining.

Sharks back on PP with 9 minutes remaining. They already have 12 shots on goal this period. Wow. Blues are holding on for dear life.

And just moments later, Blues score an empty-net goal from deep inside their own zone. STL 6-2 SJ at 4"

Sharks score to make it STL 6-3 SJ with three minutes left. It was actually an own goal (although there is no such stat in hockey).

Blues win game four 6-3. This was a very physical game. Trainer will be handing out lots of Ibuprofen and ice packs. Lots of things to consider after this game. SJ must be wondering how the hell the series is tied 2-2 given how dominant there were in games two and three. STL has to be concerned about the condition of their captain, David Backes. Jake Allen has to get another start in goal after this win, right? Hockey uses a 2-2-1-1-1 home-away format in playoff series so a return trip to San Jose is guaranteed after game five in St. Louis.

Both conference finals tied at 2-2. Both conference finals have shown no home ice advantage. Both conference finals now down to best of three with Pittsburgh and St. Louis hosting 2 of the 3 (if all three games are needed). All four teams remaining have played both of their goalies extensively.

Rayzilla and Open Casket like this.
