Once again, the beauty of football is overshadowed by the men who run it. FIFA coming in to take charge doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

    Third Place Game:

Colombia up 1-0 over US on the strength of a first half goal by Carlos Bacca. We're underway in the second half.

Clint Dempsey with a beautiful FK from about 25 meters out and Colombian keeper makes an outstanding save as the ball was tracking toward the top-right corner of the goal. US with a couple of more good looks. Their offensive game seems to have stepped up here at about 52".

Colombia a stiff breeze away from a 2-0 lead. US GK caught out a little and COL player lofted the ball over him and it hit the crossbar. And not a minute later, Bobby Wood hits the post! Action picking up here at 62".

US earn a corner at 77" but nothing comes of it.
Big save Tim Howard at 81".
Time is ticking away as US searches for the equalizer at 85".
Stretcher out for a dubious injury (time wasting)
And with every tiny bit of contact, COL players falling like they've been shot by a sniper.
Five minutes added. US deep in COL box, but in explicably reluctant to pull the trigger. Looking for perfect shot? Pretty pass? Scared?
Stupidity reins. US player pushes COL player right in front of the official and earns a red. U.S. down a man and down to their last two minutes.
COL player now showed a red for wasting time or something.
    Time is running out.
Whistle. Colombia wins 1-0 in a lackluster game. Meh. Hopefully ARG-CHI is better.
