How many of you miserable lot doing it? Bet Stone will beat the record again as Scott Jurek seems will be just having a fun run tonight.

I was running alongside that dark 45 lot.
Think Vlad will be in top 3 for sure along with Ellis.
I am in team HKH soing the 43. Come say Hi
Yeah if really Jurek take it easy I would say:
Stone / Vlad / Lehkonen / Ellis and Jurek somewhere in the mix
If Jurek does race proper:
Stone-Jurek-Vlad will be interesting.
Thing is Stone probably didn't train as much as before with the new baby (end of Aug) and all.
And yeah will take a look at team HKH ;-)
Many of us helping out....warning again. Each year the govt are meant to cut back the trail, but it isn't. I went along yesterday, marking, and too overgrown IMO since I did the training a month ago. A lot of loose rocks and gravel. A couple of parts a narrow and sloping towards the trail edge. So, Strong light, watch your footing between CP2 and CP3. CP3 to Ngong Ping CP4 is good firm trail. Been dry today on Lantau so trail is good. Not too dry after a bit of rain two days ago, so not much loose gravel except between CP2 and 3. . Some breeze, but very hot when I took the dog our walking this afternoon at 4pm. In other words, great weather tonight. BTW, sports/ energy drinks are not supplied at the finish. Booze, beer, soft drinks and a juice bar, as well as lots of really good food is! Vegetarian and for there carnivorous! ( many of the faster runners are vegan/vegetarian.)
Vlad came in first at 12:48am this morning followed by Stone. Not sure of who the other place takers where. First runner from the 43 kms, think it was Vlad, came in through CP1 at 10pm, the first 30 km not long a´after 11pm. From what I saw and heard from the runners, it was a tougher race than last year, namely because the humidity was more intense and virtually no wind/ breeze which is a help. Times were slower this year and many racers myself and other CP/ finish line volunteers noted that many racers were not happy with their times and commented on how they were not feeling well during some parts of the race, except one I know. These are trail runners I know who are very fast and experienced. Quite a few people dropped out, were injured badly and one guy went to hospital halfway through from what I was told buy a friend. Another lady was so ill at the CP I was helping at, I wondered if she should have pulled out but she came through ok. Other than that, always the food, booze, drinks, foot massages at the end are always a motivating factor, plus the CPs got compliments all round this year for equipment and organisation. Good to see you Trance at the end point. Arrived home around 11:15 am today after a 24 hr stint of being awake on autopilot, but the sleep was deep.

Good to see you too Nat and job well done. I remember how attentitive you were at CP1 and making sure everyone got water.
I wasnt too happy eith my time but I was battling cramps from Chi Ma Wan onwards of which I got hit pretty hard with at several points but I bit the bullet and just got on with it.
Till next year.
