If the games weren't so blatantly gay, it'd be fine. The Discreet Games might find bookings easier.

Often the people who complain the most about other people's sexuality are in the closet

Oh I totally agree. It is why Ho is so anxious about not seeing the athletes polishing and gripping their long hard poles for the pole vault - his hard on will be obscene.

On a different tangent to this discussion so far...Why is there a Gay games? There is no bar against people of any sexual orientation entering any other sporting events. Also, how do you prove you are 'gay'? Or are these games open to all too?

I must admit I was totally unaware these games existed.

The Gay Games are mainly needed because homophobia, biphobia and transphobia are often found in sports, and LGBTQ+ people often feel unsafe or are excluded in sports settings.

There is no bar on sexuality of contenders at the Gay Games. I believe it is just an awareness / celebratory thing similar to gay pride.

The games are open to anyone- there is an information page on their website outlining many FAQs- this being the main one!

It is hilarious that the HK government invites an event like this and then has to deal with the panic of having an influx of gay people raising the profile of the archaic attitudes of the HK laws. They've literally set themselves up- as I said before, they'd like it all to be the Discreet Games. It won't be- it's all about raising the issues of inequality.

My immediate thought is that this is cover for either cancelling the whole thing or moving it to a more welcoming location...
