Messi ‘won’t play for Barcelona’. I will believe that when I see it. A club in massive financial dire straits but they’ll find a way

All of this lip service paid to financial controls are utter bs. Grealish sold for 100 million, Kane probably going to go for something similar.

Utterly obscene amounts of money and yet the fans and will still suck it all up and the paid subscribers will still pay to line pockets.

When will this madness ever end?.

i am a MASSIVE football nut, a fan and still playing super vets. Maybe it’s a generational thing but I’m falling out of love with the fan side of things. I love my own club (admittedly not Premier League) but Internationals aside barely watch these days. Won’t be renewing by Now TV PL subscription that’s for sure

I just cannot equate massive transfer fees and wages to what’s going on in the wider world.

I don't think you are alone. I've read several articles about how fans learned that they can/will survive without sports during the quarantine. There is a segment of the population that won't be ready to attend matches in person for a while if ever. I think American sports (baseball, American football) have already peaked and are in decline. A new wrinkle for pro sports here is that the NCAA (college/university governing body) has Okayed student athletes earning money in some cases. That will further erode the pro leagues that have for so long had the NCAA as a free feeder league.

Thanks for the updates @huja! Perhaps a late reunification with Pep!? 34 is quite an age for a footie player. Let’s see.

A lot of ink will be spilled linking City and Messi and possibly PSG and Messi.
