Looking for help to play golf in HK

Question Looking for help to play golf in HK

    Hi All,

I am new to HK this year from NZ, 15hc, and am aware golf memberships cost a bomb but keen to understand how to book at KSC or HKGC, or to join anyone either there or as a guest anywhere else in HK.

I am fine with the green fees, golf is my only hobby - but just cannot seem to crack the convoluted online booking systems of KSC or HKGC despite signing up with handicap card etc.

appreciate any help / tips / connections!

For KSC you have to get online 1 week in advance of when you play at the correct time (9am I think) and hit 'enter' at the exact millisecond the clock turns 9am.

You will entire the online waiting room and likely be ~2000 person in the queue. If you are lucky to be < 150 or so in the queue you may have a chance of booking a round

You can do similar process by phoning at the exact time and hitting redial many many times in the hope of getting through

You can also do the same process at ~5pm on the day before you want to play to try to get a cancellation (check website for exact times)

Not sure for HKGC but believe it is just as difficult

It is next to impossible to get a round at the moment because travel to Shenzhen / SEA is so difficult, so everybody wants to use the limited HK availability

You can google 'hong kong golf societies' to try to join a society which will usually have 1 or 2 events a month, but typically you have to know someone or will have to join a waiting list

Pre-programmed autodialers ... like the other 2000 people use.

Ok thank you, will just keep trying eh.

do you happen to know if booking is required for the practice range as well? Wonder if I can just head over to check it out and use the range etc for a couple hours without as much fuss.

    cheers!

You can try the indoor golf and there is a fews indoor golf in Central and Admiraty area, it cost around HK$150 per hour for driving range. Hong Kong Golf Club membership expensive like a bomb

thanks Ivan - pleased to report I finally managed to play KSC east course on Sunday - spectacular!

I’ve found trying to book after 5pm just for 1 player seems easier than competing with the masses in the morning

East course is nice. I played there once when I brought my golf clubs back for holiday.

I'm thinking about bringing my clubs back on my next trip in January 2023. If anyone is about, let's try get on KSC ot HKGC twilight?
