Spot on. A few years back when City were marching to a 100 point season, newer fans were walking around with their chests puffed out wondering what the final point total would be. Older suppers were mentally preparing for the pain of losing the Premiership after coughing up such a huge lead.

When I started following City, there was no City pub in town. It was a Thai restaurant who's owner was a fan of Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra who saved the club from financial ruin.

Even now, the office City pub in San Francisco has a "Moan Zone" - a corner of the bar where we could complain and turn negative about the match and season.

The first time I started going to matches regularly was 95/96. Went to all home games in 98/99, and first season ticket 99/00. So I have the pessimism built-in.

The report on the Grimsby match in the local news had them as heroes, biggest match in their history.

yeah saw happy faces all around ( Grimsby players ) before kick-off. They truly enjoyed the occasion. That’s the beauty in Cup competitions. Germany same same. It’s for some clubs the highlight of the year or for even a longer period! They don’t care if 0:5 or even higher - but Bayern, Dortmund Bremen etc visiting little villages - that creates pure joy!

    Everton in the PL's crosshairs

    From a different article . . .

The alleged breach occurred during the 2021-22 season and follows an official complaint by then Premier League rivals Leeds United and Burnley.

Unlike the Guillotine-like swiftness of Bayern's dismissal of Nagelsmann, Tottenham and Conte came to a formal agreement to separate a week after it was clear he would never stand on the touchline as the Spurs' manager again.
