    Running trails

Hi I just moved to HK and am looking for areas to run. Anyone have any suggestions? Also I am looking for the way up to Victoria Peak by foot. I found many ways to get there by bus, tram and taxi but no one has written on how to walk up there. I live in midlevels and would like a way to get there from here. Thanks, Taylor

Bowen Rd is a nice option from Mid Level, it would give you around 8-10K depending where you are. From there, you can easily get up to Black's links which is very nice. Once you're up there, you can connect to the HK trail which goes by the peak or go on the Wilson trail. This will give you plenty of kms either way... If you do a quick search, you will find the maps for those trails...

You can also run on the Happy Valley track, good place to do a little speed work or you can hit the track in Aberdeen or Sandy Bay in Pok Fu Lam. There's a track in Wanchai but it's not open to the public much.

    tpequitas,
for the way up to Victoria Peak by foot - I found one way by foot when I explored HK during Xmas holiday. You can go up from Garden Road, go through the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens which by the way is quite a good place to visit!!. Ok.. go through the Gardens and reach the Old Peak road; walk up the Old Peak road .. it seems a road for car alongside are all resident buildings; but once you reach the top; you will find a pretty steep walking path all the way up to the peak. It only takes about half an hour to go from Central/Garden road to walk up all the way to the Peak.

The best way to walk up to the Peak is via the Peak Trail. You can access this at the end of Po Sham Road in the Mid Levels. There is a fire station on Po Sham Road and immediately next to it a set of stairs. These lead to the start of the Peak Trail. There are then two ways of making your way up to the top. You can either follow the concrete path (Hatton Road), a walk of approximately 6km, or you can follow the signs for Pok Fu Lam Country Park where you will find a number of trails that lead around the Peak with several options along the route to the top of the Peak itself. I prefer the latter because it is much, much quieter. The trails are usually marked in red or green colours on any map of Hong Kong Island.

Hey Gilleshk, How do you get to Bowen Rd? It seems that I would have to take the MTR and then a taxi. Is that right? I am Near the escalators and Robinson Rd. anywhere walking or running distance from here? Taylor

just google it. you can easily walk there from mid levels - as i do. head towards the tram stop and take the steps up. it takes about 15 minutes from the escalators on caine road - if that
