Hi there,
Has anybody recently signed up for membership at California Fitess?
I'm planning on doing so this week and would like to know what the current rate is they are willing to go down to.
Did the financial crisis take it's poll on CalFi??

i normally do sports outdoors but saw a 90% off sign at Cali. ytd and am very tempted now.
but of coz, a 90% off might put u into a very loooong contract with them.
Hi
I went today but didn't sign up as I'm still not sure.
I don't want to sign up for 12 months as who knows how the job situation will turn out and also I'm not a gym junkie so likley to use it for first couple of months then lose interest...
Options I was given were
Platinum - All clubs , all hours
499 join then either 688/month for 3 months and they refused to do any better than this for short term membership.
I didn't negoitate for 12 months it would be much less. Let me know what you can get, I would say under 500/month. they said it was 658 but sure it should be much less than the 3 month option.
CWB only (or any single club) 12 month membership
managed to haggle the sign up fee down to 199 from 499 then
358 /month all days
258/month Mon-Thurs ony
208 Fri-Sun only
I think I will just go for the 3 month option now even though it is more expensive so I can see how much more I value being able to go to all clubs.
After that I may sign up for 12 months and negotiate the best deal I can get
Let me know how you go and check out the other thread on Gym costs
@Freebz
At which gym did you see it?
I'm planning to signing up at one of the gyms in Mongkok (any recommendations which the better one is?) on a 12mth contract as I'm still here for an unlimited time. Actually I was hoping for all days below $300 but that seems quite difficult..
I'll try to go there tomorrow during lunch and see what I can manage to get.
In late January 2009 I signed up for a 3 month deal with California Fitness.
The deal I signed was a follows:
Membership type: PLATINUM (can use any gym at any time).
MONTHLY FEE: HK$668
Processing Fee: HK$499
Total cost for 3 months: HK$2504.
They have said if I want to continue at the end of the 3 months, I can sign up for 12 months and renegotiate the price...
Have been quite abit to the Gym in Wanchai... Very Happy with the service & facilities.
Cheers,
Chris
Just got back from the second location in MK.
The best prices I've got in the 10min I was there are:
$317 if signing up for 24 months, for all locations, 7 days
$280 if signing up for 18 months, for one location, 7 days
I'll receive a phone call later today, awaiting other quotes to compare it.
Will keep you guys posted.
...just went there at around 8:30pm again, after work in order to sign up as the above quoted prices seemed pretty good ($317 for all locations).
Only then after taking copies of my credit card and hkid he noticed that HSBC wouldn't allow 24 interest-free installments and that I should rather pay the total sum (all 24 months) at once, trying to feed me with an additional $450 offf and $1000 worth of Park&Shop coupons...
Told him that the deal seemed off and wanted to leave; he tried to get me with some other offers which were not even close to the previous one so that I just decided to leave.![]()
