    wristwatch advice for the marathon

    Hi all -
    - I am considering purchasing a watch for the marathon in a fortnight. Could anybody recommend a good brand or model? Where can I buy it in HK?
    Thanks!

What's your budget and what functions do you want ?

If you're looking for speed/distance functions I'd go for either a Polar RS400 or 800 - can purchase here with the food pod/gps.

Or a Suunto T3, T4 or T6. Again with GPS or footpod function.

Would pick a footpod above GPS also for accuracy reasons

I'm hoping to spend under 500HKD if possible. Anything that can keep an overall time and do splits would be great. Having a GPS or similar device would be nice but definitely is not necessary.

Being relatively new to HK, I'm not sure where I'd go to look a watch like the Polar RS400 or 800. Any tips?

under $500 you would have to scrap the polar or suunto devices i mentioned earlier.

If you want heart rate functions, maybe a basic polar, can be purchased from majority of sports oulets like marathon or giga sports. If its just for timing purposes then a casio/or timex watch will be fine.

Go to Times Square in Causeway Bay, there's Marathon and Gigasports shops there + other sport shops. You will find not only Polar but other brands too.. worth having a look before making your decision..

Just buy a Timex Ironman watch, simple and cheap, easy to use...
