I recommend Diving Adventure in Causeway Bay, they organise local trips every weekend and frequent trips elsewhere

    Diving Adventure

It is pretty cheap and easy to pop over to the Phillipines and there is some great diving there... Ihave done several 3 day weekends in Puerto Galera and Anilao.

    Hi Geoff,

Isn't Puerto Galera hard to get to? (I heard a car ride and then another ferry ride) How were you able to do that in a 3-day weekend?

    Thanks!

You can do PG for a weekend, but getting to and from there is quite a drag. Anilao is a better option, 2-2.5 hrs drive from Manila.

Pretty easy - get the 7pm flight to Manila.. then approx 3 hours in a car and an hours bangka ride. Get there around midnight to 1am, sleep and then dive Sat/Sun. Finally get the 6pm flight back on Monday and in at work on Tuesday.

It's pretty easy to get 4 or 5 dives a day in PG so you can squeeze 8-10 dives in no problem.

wow, 4-5 dives a day. How deep is the water in PG. No need to follow the surface interval?

You can do dives of any depth - 6m on Mandarinfish dives to 40m and below.

You can take an hours break and have a reasonable surface interval - diving at 9, 11, 2, 4 and 6.

The first Sunday every month SPLASH has a diving trip to various islands around Sai Kung. It starts early - 8:30 in Sai Kung and you can usually fit 3 dives and return about 5:30 in the afternoon. It costs around $660 if you want to hire equipment as well.
The first weekend in June this year (and occasionally other months), there's a SPLASH weekend, where 6 dives occur over the two days and there's an option for a night dive. You can choose to sleep on the boat.

Huh. Lots of PADI divers, it seems. Though I suppose that's to be expected...

I'm a NAUI diver, OW certified, part of Project X. I think we're about to embark on regular weekend dives this weekend onwards... we start from White Sand Beach in Sai Kung and take a boat out to the nice diving spots in Hong Kong.

Every Thursday, there's a free information session on Open Water held in Jordan from 7pm to... 9-10pm?... where you can sit in, see if scuba diving is for you, with no pressure to join or whatever.
