Sports cars and how they are regarded

So Mr SS and I were on our way out the other night, walking through Soho. As we passed a bar with a bunch of guys drinking on the pavement, a brand new red Ferrari, roof down, male driver, went past. They all started hollering and waving pinky crooked fingers. All quite silly but we were pondering, what was it about the Ferrari? I'm sure if it had been an Aston Martin Vantage or the Mercedes SLS it would not have had the same effect..?

Expense? The highest spec AM would probably be the same price as the lowest spec Ferrari. Merc quite a bit cheaper than that.

Perhaps the more expensive (rare, and prestigious) a car is, the likelihood of drunken men suggesting you have a small willy increases. I would suggest exponentially, too.

A case of B.C.S.D. or if your posh B.C.S.P.
Freud in its origination and popularised by Julie Walters in the movie "Personal Services" so may be something she got from Cynthia Payne ( famous English Brothel Keeper in the 80's and 90's )

Mr SS reads these forums. I think he's a banker type and therefore probably a little maniacal and cut-throat! He will hunt me down and tear me into little pieces!

    Make tea, not war!

I think a red ferrari with the roof down driving through the night district anywhere in the world will attract the same kind of attention that you witnessed. Nothing special here. Its obligatory to call the driver a wanker and stick your pinkie out. How can you not do that? You and Mr SS didnt do it too????

Men with little, red sports cars are over-compensating for having a little, red something else. Hence waving little pinkies.
