    Total Cost for Motorbike in HK?

    Maybe I missed it somewhere but can someone give me an idea of how much it is going to cost to own a something like a Honda CB 250 (nothing big, I like older stripped down bikes like Cafe Racer style.) for maybe between occasional to everyday riding in between there? like gas, insurance fees etc.

    I would appreciate your input. thanks.

    Very rough estimate:

    Bike: 10k-15k maybe cheaper if you look around
    Insurance: 1.5k
    Vehicle Licence: 1.4k
    Gas: approx $200 to fill up tank, should get good mileage from a 250cc

    and ins migh be 2k if no no-claims

    parking = free

    oil / filter change every 4- 6 months = 3-400 including labour... DIY $ 170 ish..

    This is yearly? I am assuming insurance would be cheaper if the bike were closer to $5000 HKD, something I might make a custom cafe racer? Or no?

    annual fee not affected by value of bike as standard insurance does not cover theft.

    comp ins - covers theft.. starting around HK$10,000 per year.

    Dont know if you were planning on doing the custom work yourself but there is a new workshop just opened up in Chai Wan called Angry Lane. I am going to try and go check them out this weekend.

    If you're going to customize it, consider where you'll need to park.....prices vary from area to area, and smaller, more rare bikes are much easier to notice and steal.

    dunno about angry lane- i know one of the guys - but I never been...
    - but there are a bunch of places that can help you -depends what u want doing... i mean changing a headlight is pretty easy, but if u need to weld the tank mounts etc.. depends on budget..
