Technically any modifications on a car are illegal and will land you in the impound. Enforcement has been really increased lately. As for restoring an older bike if it has been off the road for more than 2 years than you have extra hoops to jump through to get it registered again. PM me and I'll send you the join link for the HKMR WhatsApp group.

    Hello everyone

I'm trying to get my bike back on the road after it has been sitting for some years.

I need it to be inspected by the Transport Department before I can register it. Does anyone know of a mechanic or outfit that can help me take my bike in for inspection ?

    Many thanks in advance

If the vehicle license for the motorbike has been expired for a certain # of years without being renewed then it has to go through a brand new test. ill see if i can dig up the transport department info for this.

Thanks, chuckster. If the vehicle (car or bike) has been unregistered for 2 years or more, it will need to be inspected by the government before it can be registered again.

    Hello all!

I am pleased to announce that I am (at last!) joining the HK community of riders after successfully passing my Part C motorcycle exam.

Looking forward to seeing you on the road. I'll be looking for my first (pre-owned!) bike shortly... I'm already expecting a lot of trouble ahead

Does anyone know if there's a market for used motorcycle tires in HK? Just got a new bike and want to swap out the tires.
