Hey all, just got my license last week. Looking to start on a 250, most likely a ninja 250, cbr250 or a zzr250. My question is are leathers worth investing in and are they wearable in HK summer or will it be just hanging in the closet.

Leather offers the most protection from what I have heard and read so far. Im looking at getting a 2 piece alpinestars carver suit. Any other tips and suggestions regarding riding are welcome too!

    leathers bloody hot.
get mesh - still hot - but bearable especially if u moving. draggin jeans an knee pads arent optional in my opinion

top ridin tip - slow down on corners u cant see round!

yeh yeh u can take it fast like rossi - but the number of idiots per sq inch is as high here as anywhere else in the world

Unfortunately, my skin cannot withstand road rash, my bones do break. Id go local but I dont have superpowers like them
As for getting mesh, does it provide the same level of safety as leathers as the drivers here are loons. A taxi driver almost smashed my right side in while I was still on learner plates, I had the right of way too but still he saw me and deliberatly gunned for me.
Any good mesh suit recommended? Like brand or style. Additional protectors?
Oh and I have no intention of mimicking Rossi on a factory tuned bike on the road.

In fact look at post 12 of this thread, I also have perforated leather trousers but they are too hot for summer.

Leather is far too hot to wear here unless its AT LEAST 18* or less. Usually I wont break out my leather until 15*....so it sits in the closet for most of the year.

Motomart has a pretty good selection of full mesh jackets by Alpinestars, Dainese, & Komine. They have a few pairs of semi-mesh pants, also. Jackets will, as standard, have CE elbow and shoulder armor, and a pocket to insert a back protector (recommended, of course). Pants vary, but most will have some kind of CE knee armor and sometimes foam around the hip area.

The Aprilia Dealer carries RS Taichi Mesh gear (my personal favorite) but their sizes are limited and they sell out of common sizes pretty quickly. They also give you really strange looks when you ask them to "order another for me". *shrugs* Guess they're not exactly hurting for business.
