Is it possible to insure a car in Hong Kong with a UK driving licence? Anyone done that?
I've just arrived and will get a HK licence . Any tips on doing that smoothly and quickly?
Much appreciated.

Some posters on this site have mentioned before that they bought/insured cars with overseas license. Give Kwiksure a call (Eng) Hotline:3113 1331
OH and welcome to Clear Water Bay as well
Gttng your HK licence is very simple, takes 7 days from application at Admiralty Transport Office. You need a copy of your ID card, a copy of your foreign licence, proof of your residential address, and the completed form available on the Transport Department site - http://www.td.gov.hk/en/public_servi...ce_/index.html
If your visa is anything other than a tourist visa, then you must obtain a HK licence before you drive. There may be some grey area around having a visa for residence of less than 12 months. Although some posters may claim to have insured a vehicle on a foreign licence, in reality it is your responsibility to ensure that you have a valid licence, and if you are resident then it is not valid for you to drive on that licence, you must obtain a HK one.
Thanks for the help
got it done ? or still requires any thing for this ?
Looking good. Looks like I can get insurance no problem and have applied for a HK licence.
