Samsung Mirror/Drive Link Unavailable in HK market?

    hi guys,

looking to pick up an in dash double din screen stereo for our new car. i was looking for one with a built in GPS but it seems only Phillips is doing that these days in HK and im not a big fan of the head unit in general. so then i saw some features in pioneer and kenwoods and other units that allow phones to connect to them to use the phones GPS features which would be nice... however i cant seem to download the Samsung drive link or mirror link apps in HK market... not available in this country...

any other ideas? is it just a legal issue or some safety ban? can i download it via vpn or when i am in the US and then actually use it here? kind of a niche question so would appreciate any feedback at all... even if you have other GPS ideas... thanks!!

Get yourself one of these back in the states: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-t...rod134348.html

Use it with your phone maps app.

Thanks that does look pretty interesting... but you can't see the map itself on the HUD just some info and the subsequent turn? Do you still use a phone mount?

To be honest, I only use GPS in Hong Kong once or twice a year, so I don't use a cradle and it is mostly with my husband driving so I'm looking at the map.

I know pretty much where I'm going in Hong Kong now, and I'm generally aiming for a carpark and then heading to where I want to be on foot.

But I'd use the Garman in France, where I do drive long distance, and like to be road aware rather than watching a screen. This seems ideal, minimum info means minimum distraction.

Thanks Kim, I am pretty much new to HK and really only driving on the weekends so its taking a while to learn my way around. I figure for the first year or so Ill rely on it heavily but who knows. Ditto on the carpark/by foot arrangement.

There's a good app for parking centres and roadside parking in HK, called Motopark, available for android..a free app, and handy at times, if interested.
