Yes, but once you've done the paperwork, presumably you're good to keep using this scheme to drive back and forth once a week?

No it is for 7 days only and any subsequent 7 days is a new application. Each insurance is also for just 7 days at a time as well.

From my understanding the scheme is for ONE border crossing with max 7 days spent in Guangdong.

Can't you just add China insurance coverage to your normal policy?

It is specific insurance for the 7 day scheme. Different if you have a dual plated car as you then have a China registration.

Surely once the HZMB opens, there will have to be some scheme for driving HK cars into Macau and vice versa?

I !@#$ hope not - there's not enough room for the vehicles already in Macau. A tiny place like that, where it is already quicker to walk most places than to drive (not to mention the lengthy hunt for a parking space) Does. Not. Need. One. More. Bloody. Car.

Part of the bridge scheme is one or more giant car parks at the Zhuhai/ Macau end before visitors actually enter either city.
