    Questions about driving in HK

    1) whom do I call if I am involved in an accident? Do I call the police (999)?

    2) what happens if I give the wrong amount when I get out of the tunnel? E.g. instead of giving $8 I give $6 by mistake? I almost did last week.

    3) how many liters per km do you consume? My car (Nissan Note) was advertised as doing 25 km with 1 litre, but I think that's what it consumes in the highway

    Thanks.

    1. If mutal agreement is not reached then you call the Po Po (999) as you will need to get a police investigation report for insurance claim etc etc, if the accident is serious then call 999 immediately.

    2. Usuall the tunnel attendent will shout at you trying to stop you from leaving if by accident you use the autotoll and dont bother stopping, they will send you a letter to the registered address of the vehicle, i had that with the TKO tunnel, recd letter to pay the $3 toll fee which my mechanic didnt bother to tell me the fecker LOL, while driving to the tunnel on another time, i showed them the letter and gave them the $3 and it was fine.

    3. this varies depending on the traffic condition, engine size, age of car, driver mentality, I do close to 6KM per litre average but If im doing long distance highway runs then can get maybe 8 or 10KM per litre

They can keep yelling all day if you accelerate by stepping on the pedal and let them smell your gasoline exhaust. Of course, I would not actually encourage you do that, now would I?

    Yes call the police.

If I'm short I just say sorry in Chinese. One $40 toll I paid $25.

I calculate the cost per km, on a 2.8L runs me about $1.70 per KM on average.

Use fuel system cleaner from Caltex to improve your petrol, cost about $120 but I think it did a good job. At least that tank was about $1.40 per KM but now it is back to $1.70 per KM after refilling. haha

Is the more expensive one (I don't remember the name) from Shell also reducing consumption? I used it the first time I filled, and I have the impression I drove more.
