The endgame is becoming clearer now, Tesla will be bought by Ford or GM for a few billion dollars so they get the brand name and battery factory... That's how i think this ends. Teslas market cap is still an order of magnitude too high even after the precipitous fall.
Slight digression. Same thoughts all other parts of his businesses? Like SpaceX?

One advantage now for Musk is that an Electric Car is inherently less complex than a combustion engine.

Maybe the future for Musk could be like Jet engines for Boeing / Airbus. He could be a supplier to Car manufactures for things like Electric tech, AI, etc?

That's not an advantage for Tesla. It means it's easy for other companies to build EV's. It also means there is less valuable (high margin) recurring revenue from servicing, parts and maintenance.

could VW take over teslas market share within the next 5 years for RV, they have around 8 EV vehicles and 3 factories for EV production, or will the chinese conquer the EV market with BYD or Nio.

yeah I was referring the dealership model where they make money on those pricey oil changes.

Then again the dealership model didn't have software grade unlock features for ka-ching 5000 USD
