Where to buy a new car battery

    Hi all,

Attempted to start the car today and battery was dead.
Called insurance roadside assistance and got I started. Drove for about an hour (highway) but after trying again to start it no luck.
I drive an 8 seater mpv and live in Tung Chung.
Where would I buy a new battery? How much should I expect to pay?
    Much appreciated.

What they charge you will depend on you....

I dont usually pay more than $750 for Hyundai enercell dry chemical car battery of the size that you're describing.

Not really familiar with the mechanical workshop arrangements in Tung Chung, but there must be one that everybody goes to in the area. Pa Mei Road near the Lantau Hospital ? had a couple of workshops, the one I did know of has closed down. so cant help you with a definitive recommendation at the moment.

maybe too far to you, there are a few shops around Kowloon bay, this one in 33 sheung yee road I have used without stress, or the shops along Wai Yip Street Kwun Tong, look out for tyre shop signage they often provide batteries too. If not a special battery should be less than 1K

around Wong Tai Sin area there are a couple of shops 55 Ming Fung St

$700 unless you want the official battery.

How old is the battery? If it's younger than 5 years I would check some other causes, belts, alternator, bad connections. Just in case.

I changed mine last year, after 10 years.

Think it depends where you park it too. How often you use your car and not use your car. Typical problem in HK--even my neighbour told me they had the same problem recently.

Modern batteries don’t last long at all here. Don’t buy cheap shite ones that will need replacing in 6 months. Buy decent brands. Price depends on battery size, output amp rating, etc.

Also keep one of these in the car, they come very useful when you cant start a car and dont have to rely on calling others for help

Why they don't last long here? At least we have no sub-zero, which is really bad on batteries.
