imo this is a crazy idea given hk climate and cultural environment. if it worked, there would be less people living under the bridge in sham shui po and more people living in vans in NT.

A transit van is about 150 sq ft. Of course that is net so in HK terms why not call it 200 sq ft. Luxury.

If the 8 months are between now and May, it's not bad at all especially at night time. I just shudder to think of the mold growing while the car is idle though. Anyway, if the OP is still keen after the negative comments, I think the best way to do this is to go to Australia or the UK where choices will be plentiful and ship it to Hong Kong.

Dude, it's not an american thing. It's just as common in Europe, Australia, Canada and NZ so might want to chill out on your US prejudice extend your xenophobia to all foreigners.

I don’t think this is a very good idea. It’s not LA or the countryside. I am an American saying this too. HK is very strict on allowing vehicles being parked (wherever) for overnight with someone inside. They can easily check you out anytime overnight if they suspect anything. Also, it might end up being about the same price to just rent a small room or studio. Nowadays their prices have fallen. The landlords are all desperate. Try it out first. See what happens. Talking to different landlords.

i had a friend do this in the UK and it didn't end well. a problem developed with the electrics, caused a fire and he lost everything, including one of his dogs. Not a good idea.

Extra long wheelbase transit has a inside floor area of roughly 85 sq ft

DeletedUser is a living breathing testament to Hong Kong's lack of adequate psychiatric treatment facilities.

I did know someone who was living in a converted shipping container in Sai Kung nestled behind the concrete works. He had it decked out as a bedroom, it was powered, had a box air conditioner installed, lighting etc a little bench with a small gas canister camp stove to cook and make a cup of tea etc. He used to shower etc at the public shower/toilet block near the Sai Kung wet market. He was a Brit and I think he was paying about $3500 per month. This was about 4 years ago so not sure if it’s still possible, but another option.
