You get a lawyer to make the other passengers sign an affadavit that the camera was not functioning and that you backed into the other driver's car. They will get scared and not lie under oath IMO.

Police will only care if a crime, injury or damage to
road infrastructure is involved. It's an insurance thing and only if you can prove 100% he did it, then they just pay for their own damage and you both lose some NCD.

Invest in a better camera front and back to protect your NCD.

Your insurance company will either have lawyers or triads on staff.

    Start with them.

The odds are on your side.

The other driver obviously called some folks who advised him to change his statement..

You stated the car that hit you was a TESLA in your PM, you should ask them to prove that you backed into them, dont TESLA have a gazillions of car cams lol

Anyways i wouldnt stress about it, describe what happened to your insurance company and let them deal with the Tesla FUCKTARD.

I recently had the luxury of dealing with another douchebag driver too.

The driver "claimed" I hit him and he heard a "bang". I was no where near his vehicle and we both had dash cams validating no contact. No damages were found on the both cars (not even a scratch). The police on the scene said they see no accident or damages.

However, the douchebag driver continued to say I hit him and had went to different police departments to file complaint/claim. From traffic accident department to traffic violation departments etc. This guy was in his 50's and has too much time on his hands.

End of the day, cops will entertain whatever lands on their desk. So I ended up having to waste time sharing information to the police. I refused statement because I had shared concrete video evidence already.

Frustrating dealing with drivers and police in this city.

Car insurance is an absolute c*nt of a thing when you compare it with back home, which I had my first claim in Australia within the last 3 weeks.

My experience car insurance in HK was so frustratingly drawn out over 9 months and I was out of pocket.

Here, ran over a concrete rock thing on the road that shattered my VW alloy sump like a proverbial egg and damaged the drivers side lower control arm and munted the undercarriage stone tray.

Instigated the claim shortly after it happened, AAMI organised a tray tow truck, within 40 minutes and I paid my excess the following morning. This happened on Good Friday, so had to wait till wednesday for the vehicle insurance accessor to evaluate the extent of the damage and action a repair order. Cutting a long story short, the car was ready to pick up last Thursday. all done and dusted in less than two weeks!

One of HK's glaring frustrations, is how its car insurance system works, but then again, there's a fair percentage of folks that look at minor fender benders as an easy 6 figure compo claim so any wonder it is such a pain in the arse.

I really dont miss that aspect and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to deal with my insurance company over here. Zero paper work to mess around with, no BS police report, just a comprehensive phone call to the insurance company and they took care of the rest, just so easy ! HK car insurance is fucked in the head, in how it deals with claims, having experienced that horrible shit fight.

Agreed HK insurance companies suck. But then again, the premium is like 1/2 to 1/3 the price of NA?

Isn’t it a technicality if someone hits you from behind then it’s their fault. There are no cameras to justify what they are saying. They are making it up to try and get you to be the one who pays. Or is in trouble. Especially if you are a foreigner. It’s always tricky driving in a foreign country. Not so much the traffic but because of the scams the locals try and do. It’s crazy.

Might be the foreigner is an issue, possible. They guy was apologetic and went on how sorry he was, but changed the story after talking to the police.
