I already paid the 30K deposit 2 weeks ago and uploaded the required paperwork.. But I understand that only gives me the right to "queue" for the next shipment if there is a match

That means you have a rando assigned to you?

Ask them for an estimated delivery date AND tell them you'd like to start the insurance paperwork which requires a VIN. Should be able to give you a screenshot of their internal system if you ask them to double verify that your VIN in correct.

Your next step if I recall will be paper signing in triplicate and signing over your first born, at the Kowloon Bay popup.

May be things have changed since me and a friend took our Model Y deliveries in Sept. Took us about 3/4 weeks to get delivery as it was the first MY shipment and not cleared as drivable in HK or some random govt related reason.

I got that call for the pay demand, and paid. Online I see the upload insurance papers message (strangely not the confirmation for the ~10% deposit). Don't I need the license plate number to get insurance?

You need a VIN number, not a license plate to get the temp insurance certificate (1 month I think) from Liberty.

Just got another call and whatsapp - have all details now, Model 3 will be ready before the End of November. Ordered Oct. 24th, quite fast.

Need to get rid of the old car now to get that scrap paper ASAP, means 2-3 weeks no car.

Yes, got one last week and got a new one today.

I need to look into the scrapping options now.

Has Tesla offered you a trade-in option? They did for my case which was in line with the best scrap yard valuation FYI
