How much do you spend annually on your car maintenance and repairs?

I’m looking at buying a second hand car and wondering which car has the lowest maintenance/repair cost in Hong Kong. Obviously this is applicable only to cars out of manufacturer’s warranty.

I have added a poll, please state which car you own and how much you spend annually for maintenance.

mine is definitely in the top “money pit” bracket right now while I am putting right 30 years of creative maintenance...

Before that with a more normal used car (VW) I was spending about 8-10k generally, with an annual service and an average of one or two other repairs being needed each year.

Obviously this is a “how long is a piece of string” question, but if you want to keep costs down buy a Toyota or a Lexus which has been properly maintained.

Nothing really, apart from the yearly MOT requirement.

    Have a 2016 Lexus.

Over a 10-11 year period of owning a Hyundai Tucson, our non-annual service (which used to be about 3-4K-ish) maintenance as about 20K in total .. some random bits breaking, FOB replacement, some broken joint thingy (about 8K), tire replacement..

Why don't you also include insurance fee in this response?
