Police no longer have to be present to prosecute. Anyone with video footage can send to the Police. Safe Driving everyone.

The police called me. They asked me if I was aware of the incident in question and confirmed that someone had submitted camera footage and claimed that I had not been driving carefully.

I replied that I was aware, because they stated the time, date and location on the letter the previously sent to me. I added that from my perspective I had done anything wrong and intended to contest it if they prosecuted as I felt the other person was the one not driving carefully. They said the matter is closed, no further actions. Please drive carefully.

I suspect the footage they had would not stand up, although they didn't share it. I guess no complaints from me. They have to look into it if someone complains. And yes - glad that is the end of it, a big relief.

Buy a bigger SD Card and backup your CarCam Footage.

If you have interesting Footage, upload and share your footage online.

Problem is .. you have to be close enough to the crazies to get the footage. Quite a few local crowd sourced channels...

Super. Now every righteous citizen who witnesses someone who forgot to use a turn signal will be reporting...sigh. After 2019, no, I do not have faith in the system. Not the police and not certain uh, citizens who support the police in questionable ways.

Look, if it's something crazy, fine, I am more than happy for those people to get their due. But sounds like this was a big nothingburger and just harassing people.

I have driven in some crazy places (NYC, NYC suburbs, everywhere around DC, Boston area, NJ- the latter two some insurance companies won't insure it's that bad) so, yeah, I get it, I have literally seen it all and then some. So HK driving, while not great, is not worse than those places- which do the same crazy stuff but at much, much higher speeds as the roads in the US are much, much faster. So, sure, would love to have been able to turn in those jerks. But every minor irritation? No. Sometimes traffic is so congested that to get to the exit, someone is going to have to squeeze in somewhere and people will have to brake suddenly. Not a reportable offense...

Another reason not to drive in HK...

    Probably the standard practice

Received complaint -> send letter to scare driver
    See how they respond
Call person who complained and say the driver contested so you’ll have to testify in court, do you want to proceed?
They probably say no and the police drop it

    But I have no idea
