    And yes a drivers licence issued in Shenzhen is valid throughout China.

    Just to be clear - we're talking about the actual crossing the border bit here right? I recall the vehicle is only coded to a limited number of pre-selected drivers at the borders. Didn't realise it could include non-HRP holders... but good to know.

    Correct, there are only 3 drivers allowed per car, . 1 main driver and 2 additional drivers. Everyone can only be the main driver of a single vehicle. You don't need an HRP to be a driver, all you need are a Chinese and HK drivers license, a HKID and a residence permit for China. Doesn't matter which kind.
