"Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles" (HZMB permit for HK cars)

I am about to start this process, which starts with getting a "China card". I got that already.Next up is getting a CN drivers license. Can't apply for the HZMB permit without a CN license.Apart from the government website on https://www.1823.gov.hk/en/faq/how-t...-kong-vehicles are there any advice from people who have already done it?I searched here but could not see it discussed yet.

There is some discussion in another thread about it but the info is quite spotty. Seems like you will need to do a computer exam.

The computer exam is for the license conversion. 50 questions, 2 points each, 90 point pass mark. Most questions are super easy but there are some that ask how many RMB or points on license, for various traffic offenses.

One can skip this test but then it seems they will only issue a temporary license, valid for 1 year. Not sure this license is sufficient for the HZMB Northbound Travel private vehicle permit.

Trying to set myself up with an appointment, using WeChat, partly in Chinese and partly using translation.

First of all, you need a Chinese number for SMS, to get a code.

Second, I could not get past it saying my ID number was wrong. Using my passport, the passport in the main page is 9 digits, but the number in the OCR line has one more digit, so 10 digits. Once I entered 10 digits from the OCR line, I finally got a confirmation.

HZMB application, anyone here who has done it?

I am looking through the official guidelines. I have been given that 72 hour window later this month. My car is older so it requires MOT every year. It is still valid for another 5 months. I asked a HK MOT office and they say no need to get a new HK MOT when mine is still valid.

Then I need the inspection for the mainland side of the permit, which I believe takes place at one of two locations in Hong Kong. I am not sure if I can do this already now, or I have to wait until my application window starts. I would really like to get as much done as I can, earlier, in case there are any hiccups. My window is Thursday to Saturday, and from Friday evening I will have to leave HK for a few days so I need to have any local physical actions done by then. I can do online stuff Saturday, from outside of HK, but I can't take my car somewhere, or go and sign paperwork.

There is a great guide for getting the Mainland Travel Permit, listing all the steps in order, the gotchas and such. I am looking for something similar for the HZMB Northbound permit. Maybe there is one in Chinese?

Anyone who has done it, your feedback and guidance will be highly appreciated, thanks.

Edit: I found the inspection center to be this one https://www.cichk.com/

I will update with more details once I know more.

32 hours has passed since my 72-hour HZMB application window opened. I was done with the application 00:45 am, and all I got was a confirmation email about 10 minutes later.

Because I have the non-Chinese MTP, in the format of HAxxxxxxx rather than the Chinese HK HRP/MTP of Hxxxxxxx, I cannot log in to the system to check the status. I tried the online log in on https://gcbs.singlewindow.gd.cn/ which leads to a WeChat scan code to continue on WeChat, and I also downloaded the app and tried there. I tried many variations, and no matter what I do I hit a wall. The way I should proceed, as a HK mainland travel permit holder, keep saying the format of the ID number is wrong. If I remove the A, as if I were Chinese HK with the HRP version of the MTP, then I can proceed, but then after I get the SMS confirmation code, it then in turn says the format is wrong. As far as I can see, this is an IT related bug, because it must be relatively new with the HAxxxxxxx non-Chinese applications. Something tells me I eventually need to take a bus to China into some office, to sort it out in person.

I wonder how long it will take until I hear something but more important, when then ask me for the next steps, like the Chinese inspection in Yuen Long, will there be a short window there also? Now with spring festival coming up and public holidays, I will be away from HK for a while and dearly hope I won't have to start over with a new ballot again.

This whole process really needs a step by step guide, just like someone wrote one up for the MTP/HRP process.

I have the same issue HA + 9 digits. How did you get past the error message? (H + 10 digits for chinese HRP)

No need for the written exam anymore, as long as you are permanent resident and have a hk drivers license.
All you need is the medical checkup at the hospital (very easy)

Did you or someone else in a related thread post that the computer exam has been waived for holders of a HK driving license, or am I only dreaming this ?
