    Shipping Mopeds to Hong Kong

    Hi,

My husband and I are moving to HK soon and he would like to ship our two mopeds to Hong Kong.

I am at a loss here as whether it will be feasible to use our mopeds or not.

    1) Does one require a license to ride a moped that goes below 45km/hr?

    2) If so, how difficult is the test? And which government department should we contact to get a license?

    3) Is there any import tax for them?

    4) What about vehicle registration fee? Is there one for used vehicles?

    5) How is the road conditions for driving a moped on Lantau Island?

From previous discussions on motorcycles, it seems to me that mopeds are non-existent in Hong Kong..... Help!

    Hi discobay
Thanks for the link. It's very useful. I guess mopeds are considered "mini motorcycles" then?!
I just wonder how easy it is to park mopeds in Hong Kong.

A lot of owners park them under flyovers. Otherwise they just push them into a row of full motorcycles/mopeds.

My brother rides a vespa in HK. He tells me parking is free and easy and he really enjoys it.

What part of Lantau are you looking to drive on?
