Anyone know a good place to repair/alter shoes and boots?

I have a new pair of Caterpiller boots, but I don't really like the steal toe caps and the metal plate on the heel of the boots, as it's makes the boots very heavy, not to mention hurt my toes while walking. I can barely walk in them

Does anyone know any good places for a reasonable price where the cobbler can take out the steal parts of the boots, and them repair them back together?

I saw a lot of shoe/boot repair shops at multiple MTR stations across Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, but I'm not sure of the service.
Has anyone got a pair of boots/shoes repaired here in HK?

There is a place at exit D in central. Go out through the turnstile and its in front of the escalator. They did some simple soul repair work for me at a reasonable price. Once you are outside exit D2 there are some cobblers in the alley who might be able to do it for you. They seem to be able to work faster.

    Good luck.

Considering he/she stole the toe cap and other parts, I'd imagine it would be.

I would think removing steel toes from work boots would pretty much destroy them! If they hurt your toes, they may be too small/loose/your socks are too thin.

I remember hiking for an entire day in the NT in steel toed Doc Martens when I was 16. Bad idea: I ended up with five bruised toenails!
