I just wanted to pass along to anyone who might not be aware.....
If your parents or any other "elders" are visiting you in Hong Kong, they are entitled to an Elder Octopus card. The Elder Octopus card is available to anyone 65 or over. This card can save you quite a lot of money.
All train rides are only $2...with the exception of the airport express and journeys which end in Lo Wu/Lok Ma Chau. Also no discount in first class cabin of east rail line of course.
Most Bus rides are only $2.. with the exception of the 'A' airport buses and race course routes.
Also discounts are available at many of Hong Kong's attractions for all those 65 and older...

Happy Valley & Sha Tin Racecourses, Big Bus Tours, DHL Hong Kong Balloon and Citybus CityTours Open Top Bus tour don't offer senior concessions to either locals or visitors.
All government run museums which charge for admission (many don't), offer senior concessions to both locals and overseas visitors at age 60 and offer free admission to all on Wednesdays.
