Where can I get a chair crated for shipment?

I have a chair I need to ship to Vancouver from Sai Kung and it needs to be crated. I am not using a moving company, this is a very low-budget return to Canada. The upholstered chair is too big for post office boxes, so surface post is not an option. I am looking for a local person/business who do this kind of thing without charging me an insane price. The chair is not worth the expense but it's a family heirloom and I am trying to keep it for my granddaughter.

If anyone by any chance is soon shipping a container of stuff to Vancouver and has room for one chair to hitch a ride from Sai Kung, I would be very grateful and of course willing to pay something. I just cannot pay fees like $2000US for air shipment (and similar outrageous amounts).

Any ideas on how I can get this chair to Vancouver from Sai Kung without needing a mortgage? Your wisdom sought with gratitude.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try contacting Simon Vallance in Sai kung, he crates up motorbikes and has them shipped around the world and I dont think the bikes are shipped by air, he might be able to help you out. He's on saikung marketplace as we well.

thank you, wtbhotia, that is very helpful. I will contact Simon Vallance. DeletedUser, it's an upholstered easy chair, not a big one but I think too big to pass as luggage.

Simon Vallance says he does heavy metal crates for bikes that would not be suitable for a chair, due to the weight and expense of shipping such a thing. I'm at the point where I'm going to bubble wrap it and take it as excess baggage, as apparently a number of people have done.
