    Importing Electrical Goods

    Hi,
Can anyone please offer advice on getting elecrical goods sent here. I want to buy a sonos play 5, the new one. It will retail for around $700 in australia, but the price here will put it at well over AU$1000 (converted). I can get one delivered from my mum in australia for about $50 postage. Does anyone know what restrictions i have in getting her to send me one?
thank you for any advice in advance
    regards,
    mark

No restrictions. Just remember an adapter for the plug.

Surely if you're getting 100 sent over, NO IMPORT DUTIES? What duties would be payable on importing electronics to HK?

For the OP, just so you know for future:

    (From the Customs website)

What items are taxable on import into the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR)?

In general, imports into HKSAR are tax-free except:

motor vehicles for use on the road which are subject to a First Registration Tax administered by the Transport Department; and
the four types of dutiable commodities which are subject to excise duties, irrespective of whether they are imported or locally manufactured. These goods are liquors, tobacco, hydrocarbon oil and methyl alcohol.

My bad i was thinking of Import license or Import Declaration, something along those lines. I know you need to pay something but not sure what, I just know there is no way you can bring a lot of something in without the govt at least getting some money from you Ha ha

As Claire ex-ax has pointed out only what she has listed has duties
