This is a fantastic thread, certainly in a place like HK very interesting. Noted the tip on the travel hacking, definitely going to investigate. Here's my monthly budget:

    2,500 management fee
    12,500 pay to elderly folks
    1,000 groceries
    1,500 lunches, odd dinners
    600 transport (after subsidy)
4,000 holidays (average, 1 trip to UK/Europe plus 6-7 other trips)
    110 phone
    1,000 clothes
    400 utilities
    275 gym
    500 supplements
    1,500 random items
    1,500 going out misc

If I read between the lines correctly, your folks helped you buy a place, and now you help them out. Smart system!

Rent 15000 (Got a good deal for a nice studio wished it would make sense to buy property instead of wasting this much each month)
    Food 6000 (never cook here)
Outings (non food mostly drinks) 1500-2000
    Transport 400 (mtr + taxis)
    Mobile 140

    23040

then you have to factor in trips and random spends (high end / luxury shopping, technology products) Planning to get a decent one bed room apartment to cook in on evenings/weekends but cannot find anything decent for less than 18k. Also it doesn’t really make sense financially as my good budget would probably decrease by only 2000 so less than the rent increase with new apartment + my time spent cooking but it would be healthier...
