    This is a great thread.
I’m a new expat to HK and to see peoples’ budget really helps.

Projection of budget after 2 months in HK for my wife and I (no kids, late 20s):

    Rent: 25,000
Food+Entertainment, etc: 15,000 (I hope this figure is closer to 10,000)
MPF: 1,500 (yes to me this is an expense/investment as it decreases my monthly net income)
Utilities: 2,000 (estimated higher to give myself some room)
    Cell x2: 600
    Commute x2: 1,000
    Home internet: 200
    ~45,300

    *travel not included.

The food/entertainment is on the higher side for my personal liking, still trying to find/figure out decent restaurants without spending too much.

$600 for cell phones sounds like a waste of money. At least for one you should get one of those $88 plans.

This is with HKBN together with a broadband and TV plan which is $198. The phone plan is 3 GB but if you switch in with an existing SIM (just use a prepaid) then you get an extra 2 GB free.

Just switched to their family plan.

5 Sims for $396 and shared 20GB data.

We got the basic myTV plan along with it - its ok, get free BBC / Al Jazeera and local digital TV.

I don't like HKBN as a wireless provider - I find the prioritization annoying so I am switching out.
