neighbors over the way are adding - I think it will block my sunlight a bit...

are they allowed to do this?

    Not legally, no.

Take some photos and send them to the building department via Tell me@1823.

It depends on the type of structure being built.

Its easier to get them removed if its "Works in Progress". Take some pics and contact the BD hotline ASAP. Be sure to get a reference #.

Don't you read the newspapers? Illegal structures on NT village houses are a hot issue at the moment. The Heung Yee Kuk has advised villagers to ignore government orders to take them down, and villagers burnt an effigy of Carrie Lam last week.

do you still have it? we haven't received one, but i would like to know what is allowed and what isn't. if you still have it, would it be possible for you to scan it and attach it?

i'd appreciate it if you could.
    thanks!

aarrgh. I have thrown it away 2 days ago.
It was a thick brochure consisting of many pages.
Will check whether my neighbours still have it and then perhaps let you know title and where you can get it.
scanning is difficult, it would be like 10+ scans.
