    magnetic insect screen

    http://mosquitohk.com/EN/main.htm

has anyone used this type of screens before? we are renting, so don't want to spend much installing those permanent screens as it probably only fits the unit. i assume magnetic ones would be cheaper and easier to install. just wondering if anyone tried them before and how well they work. thanks.

We purchased screens from them about a year ago. They work very well at keeping the bugs out and are easy to install. I may not be remembering this correctly but I seem to recall that they involve double stick tape to fix the plastic frame onto the window frame and then a magnet and more tape to affix to the screen. However, after a year we do have a few frames that are now starting to "droop" a little which we will need to remove and reattach. Not sure if that is because we didn't clean the frame very well before "installation" or just the tape breaking down due to the elements.

thanks. just called and it sounds like the magnetic type is relatively cheap. even with their installation it's probably less than 500 per window. self installation is almost half of that. but it doesn't work with doors. are there other options for doors other than installing those permanent ones? we can't install those because we don't own the place. thanks.
