    Noisy Neighbours Renovating

Are there any restriction on the days and times at which people are allowed to renovate their homes? It seems like I haven't heard anything but hammers and power tools for the last three days solid and it has basically driven me out of my apartment this weekend

Enjoy. It took my neighbours just over 6 months to renovate their place. they moved out for the duration so it didn't bother them. Not a lot you can do.

My neighbour started 2 days before Xmas and is banging away as I type this. The power chisels didn't stop until after CNY. Enjoy the joy of ear defenders !!

It seems to be way too common in HK and there is very little (if any!) consideration for neighbours. In my last place, the flat below was renovated (for 2 months) followed by the flat immediately opposite (another 2 months) followed by the flat above (only at weekends but over 3 months)....once I thought it was finally over and there were no flats left to renovate, it was announced that my building's renovation was starting the following week and would last for 8 months.

Having endured close to a year's worth of renovations (plus the building across the street being razed to the ground and piling for several months at another neighbouring building site), I moved as soon as my lease was up. Now I live somewhere so quiet that I can hear the birds tweeting every morning. Just thinking about what I put up with in my last flat makes me shiver.

Yeah, I don't have any renovating neighbors, but in my area there are plenty of buildings doing the "building renewal scheme" (something like that, forget the official name), so every morning I awake to the drone of concrete drilling. Unfortunately, it's a side effect of high density living. My noise-cancellation headphones get a lot of use over here.

If you see or hear them doing anything on a Sunday call the Police, they can't even lift a hammer on Sundays legally.

Otherwise they can make noise most other days/times between 7am - 11pm.

Construction noise (including renovation) is limited to 7am to 7pm
