    how to thin paint

I was painting the interior wall and I got a little bit crazy with the paint. Basically, there are 3 stripes of paint on my wall, thicker then everywhere else, with visible paint strokes, and I want to thin it just a bit. I want to smoothen it a bit so it is not so thick and also remove some of the paint strokes, all without removing too much paint layer.

Any tips on how to do this? use liquid thinner? Use a scraper? Use sand paper? If so, how? i,e what grade sandpaper to use, etc etc. I don't want to damage the wall paint. I'm just doing some touch up before returning my apt to the landlord.

Paint another layer all over. If you want an even smoother finish, sand the bit down a little first, then paint on the extra layer.

I usually thin paint prior to using. Check what base the paint is. If normal wall paint, then use water, gradually adding a little at a time. If oil based, then you may want to buy some paint thinner from the hardware.
