    Draino/other unclogging chemicals

    Hi guys:

I have a toilet that's unfortunately clogged with paper towel, and it won't flush...I've done some research on google and the posts I found suggest Draino. I've never used it before and didn't see it in my welcome supermarket. Does any one know where I can buy it in Hong Kong? Are there any other chemicals that will dissolve toilet paper? Would coke work?

    Thanks!

    Mr muscle

Coke won't work as it'll only get rid of stains

you can buy it at the local hardware stores or even at Japan Home Centre. Print out the picture and ask for it.

I've found that plumbing snakes/augers work much better than Draino. You can likely find one cheap on Thomson street next to the Wan Chai MTR.

I happened to buy some drain unblocker today, from a local mom and pop shop. It's called 'Flying Fish' and costs $10 a bottle. It's basically acid of some sort, very caustic.

    x2.
If the draino works, great. But if the draino doesn't make it through the blockage, then it's still in your apartment. And it's seriously nasty stuff. (It's supposed to be nasty stuff, that's the idea).
I had to deal with this in my house back in the states and it was a huge hassle - filling buckets full of nasty draino/water combo and taking them to the drain to pour the stuff out. And that was in a house. Can't imagine trying to deal with it in an apartment building.

Another option is to pour a bunch of baking soda into the drain and then pour vinegar over it. This can loosen up some blockages, but not the really big/bad ones. It's best used in conjunction with an augur.
