    Electrician?

    how much do they cost per hour? we got a bad switch that's making buzzing sound. have to replace it soon. thanks.

    Around 200-300 (assuming you don't have any fancy switches)? Your building may have a couple of handy men on their list of people to contact.

    That sound like the contacts are close to being "shagged out" - Perhaps you have equipment(s) controlled by that switch which have - over time - drawn excessive current thro' the switch & caused the contacts to erode away and spark till the switch either fails totally - or bursts into smoke & flame when you least expect it.

    Get a new switch SOON -- you could fit it yourself - IF you switch everything OFF at the Mains switch that controls ALL the power to your abode......

    Of course, it is possible to change a wall switch when it's still live - I've done it, and lived to tell the tale, but for "ordinary folks" - it is NOT a good procedure if they have no electrical ability & manual dexerity!

    thanks guys. i will ask the building first. right now i turn off the main switch for that particular switch at night just to be cautious. but will get it fixed soon. although can't get the buzz sound every time now. it only buzz when i turn it off. if i tap it a few times it will go away. wierd.

    oh, by the way, for those familiar with electric stuff. is it okay to switch off the main power switch often? i mean, any wear and tear if you use it a lot that may cause problems?
