But it doesn't get rid of it all. Lived and travelled around enough of these countries to know. when I was last in Malaysia, it was so hot and humid that I stripped off in the cubicle, hosed myself down, patted dry with a cloth I carry for sweaty days...Anyway, wet wipes also helps get rid of it all without the hose.
Given the disgusting state of the loos in HK and China, introducing these hoses to wash away all of the crap left on the seat and squat area would be an excellent idea!
Back to the OP all of you!
I remember being at an airport in China and a kid wearing the traditional pants choose to go in the entranceway to the toilets. What a mess. No one could go to the toilet.
Luckily China has improved significantly. Now the mess would get cleaned up within a couple of hours.

I was screening offices in SZ a while ago for a new lab in the Hi Tech Park area. Nice and shiny offices, but the (shared) toilets like in a busy railway station.
Luckily one of our requirements was water inside the "office unit", so that gives us private loo's (for the few times I'll be there).
I usually spoil myself and try to outsource my "business" in China to 5 star hotels
