Washing machine - village house installation

Hiya, could those of you experienced with village houses give some advice on installing a washing machine please? We've got two options: one, balcony where its somewhat protected and shaded, but only a drain on the floor; two, rooftop, where it us currently exposed, no shade, only store-bought cover, but drain (water outlet) on the side wall.

With the water-out hose we have now, it'll fit nicely on the roof, but I'm concerned about the current heat damaging the machine. Would prefer the machine here long-term. However, if we kept it on the balcony, how would we install the water out to a drain on the floor. (We know it needs the u-shape going up 1 meter before going down into the drain.)

    Any suggestions??

(Incidentally, this house will have construction of a new house right in front of the balcony over the next few months. Not sure if dust from that is another factor to consider.)

We put ours on the balcony. The grill for the drain can be removed so the hose can be inserted into it. Drain leads to the drain pipe coming from the roof so the water leaves your house the same way whether the machine is on the roof or balcony.

Ok, but to do this we'll have to buy a longer hose (which is easy enough, but not possible tonight. )

So you just stick the water out hose in the drain?

Yes. You should be able to position your hose correctly and put the end of it into the drain. We never had it come out.

You could get a weather resistant lid made for it out of mirrored acrylic. Mirror would keep the heat down and a slight fold up at the front would help protect the controls from the rain.

Probably only $150 from Mongkok supplier to get a one off sheet made to size.

It is surprising that manufacturers don't make washing machines that can survive outside given the number you see on balconies all over Asia.
